Success with Active Harmonic Filters
One of our large industrial customers needed to add more electrical plant to their existing supply to meet production demands. The problem was the 5th Harmonic was already close to the G5/4 Limits. The solution was to install Active Harmonic Filters with the new plant. The result was to virtually eliminate the 5th Harmonic Current and thus prevent an increase in the overall levels.
Increased Power Quality Monitoring Capability
Power Quality monitoring is an important part of our business offer and over recent years demand has increased for this type of work. VAR have now purchased our third Fluke 1750 Power Quality analyser. The Fluke 1750 meets the requirements of the IEC 61999-1-4 Class 1, IEC 61000-4-30 & EN50160. As well as measuring the levels of Harmonic Distortion, the 1750 will capture Voltage Transients, Swells & Dips with a date / time stamp to the nearest cycle. Our Flukes have been used successfully on numerous occasions for multi-point disturbance capture.
